Headteacher’s Letter – October 22
19th October 2022
Dear parent/carer,
It has been an incredibly busy half term. Students have settled into their timetables and there is an industrious atmosphere round school as you observe our young people engaging with their learning. The second half of this term is a key period for our Year 11 in particular who will be taking mock examinations and it is essential that students use the two-week half term break to prepare for these important assessments.
Uniform
As we approach the colder weather, we understand the need for students to stay warm, and our school uniform policy accounts for warmer clothing.
Whilst in the school building, students are able to wear a mid-grey V-neck jumper on top of their shirt and under their blazer. The branded school jumper can be purchased via Parent Pay. In terms of outerwear, students are able to wear a navy or black coat over their uniform when outdoors. Tracksuit or casual hooded jackets or jumpers are not acceptable.
Sixth form students should also comply to the uniform policy and are able to wear smart/formal jumpers.
A reminder of the school uniform can be found here – https://www.stepneyallsaints.school/for-parents/school-rules-and-information/uniformequipment-list/
Edulink
Thank you to those parents who have already logged in and are using their EduLink account. We would like to remind all parents to create their EduLink account to stay in touch and to receive the latest communications and updates from the school. After October half term, text messages will no longer be sent to parents. The only method of communication with parents will be via email or the EduLink app. If a parent is unable to receive any email communication or does not have access to a smartphone, please do inform your child’s Head of Year so that we can ensure that you receive communication through student mail.
Student presidents
Our new student presidents this year are Hamdi Sharif, Jacquline Fenner and Tahmina Begum. All applicants were required to apply online and a shortlist of twelve was selected. The candidates were interviewed by the Sixth Form Team and the final students selected had one-to-one interviews with the headteacher. The selection process was extremely thorough and the standard of candidates this year was high. Three students performed exceptionally well and could not be separated. As a result, we now have three joint student presidents – two internal and one external. We are looking forward to hearing more about their ideas and initiatives for 2022-23 and they will be introducing themselves to the rest of the school in the coming weeks.
